Event Guide

In this section, you can find the answers to the most frequently asked questions regarding the Open Asian Cup 2025 and the trip to Thailand and Pattaya.

A package tour is the best way to come to Pattaya!

🌴 Pattaya is a vibrant, lively, and well-developed resort on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand.
📍 Just 165 km southeast of Bangkok, Pattaya attracts tourists with its many beaches, entertainment areas, restaurants, and active nightlife.
Swimming, excursions, and family entertainment – all this makes Pattaya an excellent destination for a package holiday.

✅ We recommend checking the cost of a comprehensive package holiday to Pattaya with a flight and accommodation for the required dates with tour operators in your country.
💡 Often, a package holiday is cheaper than buying tickets and booking a hotel and transfer separately.

🌟 Why a package holiday in Pattaya is a great idea:

🔐 Convenience and safety
Tour operators take on all the organization, from the flight (including charter) to the transfer and hotel accommodation.

🧳 Comprehensive solution
The tour package usually includes accommodation, flights, transfers, sometimes meals, and excursions – everything for a comfortable holiday.

💸 Profitability
Many operators offer charters and special offers for the winter season.
For example, charter flights to Pattaya (U-Tapao airport) in the 2025 season are announced by Anex Tour (via AZUR air) and Intourist, which previously flew only on regular flights.

What do you need to do before arriving in Thailand?

✅ Before departure

✈️ Check your airline’s baggage rules.

🛂 Fill out the TDAC – Thailand Entry Card. This is a must for absolutely everyone. The process takes literally a few minutes. After filling in the required fields, a QR code will be sent to the specified email, which will need to be shown to the officer when crossing the border. TDAC must be filled out using this link.

📍 Book accommodation (Booking, Agoda, hotel websites).

🚖 Think about transferring from the airport (book in advance or explore options).

✅ Documents and visa issues

📌 Passport – must be valid for at least 6 months at the time of entry.

📌 Visa or visa-free – citizens of the Russian Federation, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and several countries are allowed visa-free entry for up to 30 days. Be sure to check whether you need a visa for your country of citizenship.

📌 Return ticket — often checked at the border.

📌 Copies of documents — take photos/scans of your passport, visa, insurance, and save them on your phone and in the cloud.

✅ Finance

💳 Bank cards (Visa/Mastercard work almost everywhere). UnionPay is also accepted.

💵 Cash rubles, dollars or euros — it is more profitable to exchange them at exchange offices (SuperRich, TT Currency Exchange).

✅ Health and insurance

🏥 Medical insurance (a must! Thai medicine is very high quality, but expensive).

💊 First aid kit — basic medicines for colds, stomach, allergies, and painkillers. Check the possibility of importing medicines in advance.

💉 There are no vaccinations required to cross the Thai border.

✅ Technology and communications

📱 Unlocking your phone for local SIM cards (AIS, TrueMove H, dtac) if necessary.

🔋 Power bank (convenient for travel).

🔌 Universal adapter (in Thailand, A, B, C sockets are suitable – European and American plugs are suitable).

✅ Preparation for everyday life

👕 Light clothing + something closed (for temples and royal palaces).

🩴 Sandals/flip-flops (they are often taken off before entering a house or establishment).

☂ Umbrella/raincoat during the rainy season (May-October).

🧴 Sunscreen and mosquito repellent.

How to get from the airport to Pattaya?

🚖 A taxi (3-seater) from Bangkok Airport to Pattaya will cost around $60. Depending on the number of people, you can order a minibus for 8 people, which is $80.

🚌 1. Direct bus (the most budget option)

What is it: Direct bus from Roong Reuang (Airport Pattaya Bus) and BMTA Bus 389.

📍 Where to board: Airport Level 1 (Ground Floor), near Gate 8 (or between Gates 7–8 for Bell Bus).

⏰ Schedule:
Roong Reuang: every hour from about 07:00 to 21:00–22:00.
Bell Travel: approximately every 2 hours from 08:30 to 18:00.

💰 Cost:
Roong Reuang / BMTA: ~120–143 THB.
Bell Travel: 190–250 THB.

⏳ Travel time: about 1.5–2 hours (up to 2.5 in traffic jams).

🛑 Stop in Pattaya: North Pattaya, Central Pattaya, Jomtien (Thappraya Road). The last bus stops at Jomtien.

🚐 2. Shuttle bus (Bell Travel), minivans (van)

Bell Travel — comfortable, with luggage space, departs from Level 1 every ~2 hours. Cost — ~190–250 THB.

🚐 Minivans — cost ~250–300 THB, faster than a regular bus.

🚖 3. Taxi or private transfer (most convenient)

Metered taxi:
💰 Cost: about 1,200–2,000 THB + tolls.

⏳ Time: about 1.5–2 hours, depending on traffic.

🚘 Private transfer (through companies like Go Thai Transport, PattayaCentral.com, Tom’s Taxi, etc.):
Fixed price (~1,200 THB), includes tolls and fees.

✨ Comfort: meet at the exit, English-speaking driver, direct transfer to the hotel.

Where to live in Pattaya and how much does it cost?

Depends on the hotel you choose – we have no restrictions. We recommend looking at hotels closer to Royal Cliff Pattaya (this is the hotel where PEACH is located – the venue for the 2025 Asian Cup). In this location, there are different options – hostels from $ 20 per person per night, and the Royal Cliff hotel itself for $ 70-80 per person. Pattaya is a small city in which it is quite easy to get from one point to another.

🌆 1. Central Pattaya

Suitable for those who want to be in the thick of things.
Nearby Walking Street, shopping centers (Central Festival, Terminal 21).
Lots of bars, restaurants, and massage parlors.
❌ Cons: noisy, crowded, dirty sea.
🏨 Accommodation: from budget guesthouses to expensive condos.

🏖️ 2. Pattaya Beach (Pattaya Beach Road)

First line by the sea, everything is close.
A great option for short trips.
🌅 View of the bay, lots of cafes and shops.
❌ Cons: the beach is not the best for swimming.

🌴 3. North Pattaya (Naklua, Wong Amat Beach)

A quieter area.
Good beaches, fewer tourists.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Popular with families and those who live long-term.
🏊‍♂️ Lots of condos with pools.
💰 Prices are higher than in the center.

🌊 4. Jomtien (Jomtien Beach)

The best option for living by the sea.
Calm, cleaner sea, long beach.
🍲 Lots of apartments, flats, and Russian-language cafes.
🏠 Housing is cheaper than in the center.
❌ Cons: 10-15 minutes to Walking Street.

🏝️ 5. Pratumnak Hill

The area between the center and Jomtien. This is where the 2025 Asian Cup will be held.
Quiet, prestigious, with villas and expensive condos.
🏖️ The beaches are better than in the center.
🤫 Suitable for a secluded holiday.

Where to eat in Pattaya and how much does it cost?

Food in Thailand is quite budget-friendly. If you don’t eat in restaurants, a man can spend $30-40 per day (1 US dollar is about 33 Thai baht). Without alcohol, of course.

🍜 1. Street food
The most popular and authentic option.
Can be found on every corner: noodles (Pad Thai), soups (Tom Yum, Khao Soi), kebabs (Moo Ping).
Prices: from 40-70 baht per serving.
✅ Pros: tasty, cheap, colorful.
⚠️ Cons: sanitary conditions are sometimes an acquired taste.

🌙 2. Night markets
In the evening, almost every city opens food markets.
There is a huge selection of dishes: seafood, fruits, snacks, and sweets.
There is often an area with tables.
Prices: 50–150 baht per dish.
📍 The closest night market to the 2025 Asian Cup venue is located here.

🏬 3. Food courts in shopping malls
There are some in every large shopping mall (Big C, Central, Terminal 21).
Meals are prepared right in front of you.
Clean, comfortable, air-conditioned.
Prices: 60–120 baht per dish.

🍲 4. Cafes and small restaurants
Thai family cafes and small outlets.
Large portions, often tastier than in tourist areas.
Prices: 100–200 baht.

🍽️ 5. Restaurants for tourists and expats
European and mixed cuisine.
Suitable for those tired of spicy food.
Prices: 200–600 baht per dish, cocktails and beer are more expensive.

🦞 6. Seafood restaurants
Especially popular on the coast.
You can choose fresh fish, shrimp, or crabs — they will cook them in front of you.
Prices: from 300 baht and up, depending on weight.

🥗 7. Vegetarian and healthy cafes
Very common in tourist areas.
Smoothies, bowls, organic food.
Prices: 150–350 baht.

🏪 8. 7-Eleven and Tops
Mini-markets are located everywhere with ready-made sandwiches, noodles, coffee, and desserts.
Food is heated at the checkout.
Prices: 30–80 baht.
A great option for a quick snack.

💡 Advice:
If you want to try the real thing, eat where the locals eat.
For safety, choose places with a lot of people and high turnover of products.

Best Apps for Thailand

🚖 1. Transport and delivery
Grab is a universal app for taxis, food delivery, and courier services, popular in many Asian countries.
Bolt is an app for calling a taxi – both a car and a motorbike. An alternative to Grab, sometimes cheaper.
12Go is a platform for booking buses, trains, ferries, flights, and transfers throughout the country.
ViaBus is a convenient way to track public transport in real time.
MuvMi is a local app for calling electric tuk-tuks, convenient for short trips in Bangkok.

🗺️ 2. Navigation and maps
Google Maps is a universal one, with POI search, reviews, and routes. You should not use Yandex. Maps or other applications typical for your country – in Thailand, they simply may not work or provide incorrect information. OsmAnd — offline maps based on OpenStreetMap — perfect if the internet is unstable.

💬 3. Communication and translation
LINE — the most popular messenger in Thailand, used in business, everyday life, and for orders.
Google Translate — recognizes text from the camera, helps to read the menu, and communicates.

🏨 4. Bookings and entertainment
Booking.com and Agoda are great apps for finding and booking accommodation.
Klook and Get Your Guide — for finding excursions, tours, and entertainment tickets.

🍱 5. Food and shopping
GrabFood — convenient food delivery with an English interface.
FoodPanda — a popular food delivery service.
Lazada and Shopee — leading marketplaces for online shopping.

What should you not do in Thailand?

1. Legislative prohibitions

❌ Drugs — strictly prohibited, punishment up to and including the death penalty.

❌ Insulting the king and the royal family — imprisonment even for criticism or jokes.

❌ Smoking electronic cigarettes (vapes) — import, sale, and use prohibited, fines and confiscation.

❌ Throwing garbage on the street — fine up to 2,000 baht.

❌ Smoking in unauthorized places (beaches, public places) — fine up to 100,000 baht or prison.

❌ Selling alcohol at unauthorized times — from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and from midnight to 11:00 AM (but tourists may be refused even in stores).

2. Religious and cultural taboos

❌ Touching the head of Thais (especially children) is considered sacrilege.

❌ Disrespectful attitude towards images of Buddha – you cannot sit on statues, take pictures in provocative poses, or take Buddha images out of the temple without permission.

❌ Entering a temple with bare shoulders or knees – closed clothing is required.

❌ Turning your back to a Buddha statue when taking a photo is considered an insult.

3. In public places

❌ Expressing aggression or swearing loudly – in Thai culture, it is not customary to raise your voice.

❌ Showing excessive intimacy in public – hugs are acceptable, but kissing and especially more are not welcome.

❌ Using the left hand to pass objects – it is considered “unclean”.

❌ Sit with your feet up on a table, chair, or point your feet at people or Buddha images.

4. Transport and everyday life

❌ Drive without an international license — a fine, and in case of an accident, there will be serious problems.

❌ Riding a bike without a helmet — a fine and increased risk.

❌ Walk on the roadway, ignore traffic rules — the police often fine tourists.

💡 Advice:

Thais really value respect, smiles, and calmness. If you follow these rules and behave politely, your stay in Thailand will be as comfortable as possible.
